There are many types of flowers, flowering trees, and flowering bushes here, but no lilacs. Lilacs were one of my mother’s favorites and bushes were planted on the property so that she’d have access to the spring glory. My beloved dog Dixie is buried at the foot of a lilac bush. Whenever I see lilacs Mom is not far from my mind and heart – not that she’s ever much more than temporarily out of sight. So here’s blast from the past. An extra goodie. A reminder that spring lives in all of us and that remembrance of great joy and love is sweet.

The fragrance oils in lilacs are so ephemeral that there is no lilac essential oil, only artificial scent. Like life and love, lilacs burst into bloom and then at the height of the joy and beauty they are gone, much like we are. We are also a time-limited offering. What are you doing with that offering during this short time?
